Project zomboid skill recovery journal.
It was always in the game, but you would have to load up the save file of the dead character to enable it. Now you can just click something like "Make New Character" right from the "You Died" screen. There isn't, and likely won't be, anything that would allow you to save your game and reload a dead character with your skills in tact.
Skills are abilities a character has learned, with their proficiency at that skill quantified by its skill level. The skill level can be increased by gaining a sufficient amount of experience points ( XP ). Skills are grouped into categories. There are currently five main skill categories: agility, combat, crafting, firearm, and survivalist.Embrace death and the loss. Use VHS tapes to recover some of the lost skill points. Instead we set it to a low multiplier of like 2x but add the mod "Skill Recovery Journal" with a 75% return amount. This makes leveling not as grindy, but still takes work. I’m a carpenter so I automatically get +1 short blunt and +3 carpentry, I’m guessing those aren’t recorded in the journal and you only get XP for what you earn. Maybe from in game Options -> Mods you can change it but otherwise: When starting a new game, click on sandbox then when you get to the sandbox options screen you'll have "Skill Recovery Journal" on the list and can select the options from there.
I gave him the xp manually using the admin interface but we noticed those points are not being transcribed into the journal. Is this possible? When I transcribe into the Journal, I noticed certain skills seemed to insert 4x the amount of XP I would see in the [Info Panel] > [Skills] (with all the rows of boxes).
