I've had other (expensive) squeeze grip capos that did not seem to fret the 1st and 2nd (thin strings) completely ...many times those strings seemed muted slightly.

I use two capos with plastic sleeves (Kat Eyz and McKinney), but only one with a rubber pad (Shubb), so I can't compare degrees of hardness. However, I have discovered that the position of the capo on the fret does make a substantial difference in sound. The larger thumbscrew is an interesting facet as well. The Kat Eyz has a 1/4" screw which makes it quicker to spin up AND limits the amount of pressure immediately applied.
