Kitsap County, WA. 2016 4Runner TRD Pro. All tire manufacturers do not recommend using a 285 series tire on a 7" rim. The minimum recommended width is 7.5", again from tire manufacturers. You can go on to Falken, Toyo, BFGoodrich, whatever and they all say the same thing. Can you physically place a 285 on a 7" rim, yes absolutely.

On my 2015 Prerunner, no cmc, removed mud flaps only no rubbing even on trails to camp and hike spots. It has a Wescott Designs Fox TRD Pro lift kit.1) I haven't check if the spare tire rim meets the minimum width of 7.5in to fit 285s. But since spare tire is for "Just in case" scenario I mount them in stock rim. 2) I can confirm BFG KO2 & Falken Wildpeak tires with size 285/70R17 on stock spare rim fits under TRD ORP with no KDSS and 4Runner Limited.The largest size on a leveling kit or lift kit is relative depending on kit height. These terms “leveling kit and lift kit” are relative as they both can achieve similar ride heights. For 2″ heights 275/75r16 and 275/70r17 seem to clear with no major issues. For 3″ heights 285/75r16 and 285/70r17 seem to clear with no major issues.

I use to have General X3 Mudders 265-70-17 in an E load. Wow... the car was so stiff and heavy. I now have 285-70-17 ATKO 2 in a C load range and it was significantly lighter as well. Relations Race Wheels makes some awesome, strong, and lightweight wheels for our Toyotas. At just 22lbs these are lighter than all the factory 4Runner wheels, and on the low end of the spectrum for a 17” wheel. The 8.5” width and -10 offset give a really nice stance, and is about in line with the fenders.Mar 20, 2017 · A 285/70/17 KO2 is about 32.7" whereas a Cooper ST Maxx in the same size comes out to 33". A larger tire was needed to increase capability off-road, but also to make the 4Runner more aesthetically pleasing. There was almost no rubbing when I changed the tires from the stock size 265/70R17 to 285/70R17.
