A real 3DS is the best way to experience 3DS games IMO since emulating means sacrificing the intended form factor and 3D support, but a Steam Deck will run most games well, and some games like Monster Hunter are more comfortable to play in HD with a "full" controller and dual stick camera control.

I used Emudeck to setup for emulation as well and it does a tremendous job, but some of the per-game config files in Dolphin have settings that result in worse performance (for example dual core disabled in F-Zero GX).
